Welcome to Youth Departmrent!
The Youth Department of the Methodist Church in Sri Lanka exists to nurture and equip young people to become committed disciples of Jesus Christ who actively serve the Church and society. Recognising that young people are an essential part of the life and mission of the Church, the Youth Desk creates opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development, fellowship, and Christian witness.
Working alongside local churches, circuits, and districts across the Connexion, the Youth Desk encourages young Methodists to discover their God-given gifts, deepen their faith, and live out the Gospel in their daily lives.
Our Purpose
- Encourage young people to develop a personal and growing relationship with Jesus
Christ. - Equip and empower youth to become Christ-centred leaders within the Church and their
communities. - Foster Christian fellowship among Methodist youth across Sri Lanka.
- Inspire young people to serve with compassion, integrity, and a commitment to God’s
mission. - Provide opportunities for worship, discipleship, learning, and outreach.
Methodist youth ministry is organised through districts, circuits, and local societies, enabling young people throughout Sri Lanka to participate in the life of the Church.
Youth leaders at each level work together to encourage fellowship, develop future leaders, and strengthen connections between Methodist young people across the country.
Programmes & Activities
The Youth Desk conducts and supports a variety of programmes designed to strengthen the spiritual and personal development of young people. These include:
- Youth camps and retreats
- Leadership development programmes
- Bible studies and discipleship training
- Worship gatherings and conferences
- Community outreach and mission initiatives
- Disaster Risk Reduction Programmes for Climate Disasters
- Fellowship events that encourage unity among young Methodists
These initiatives seek to equip young people to live as faithful disciples of Christ while making a positive contribution to their churches, communities, and the nation. The Youth Desk has also organised national youth leadership summits and district-based training programmes to strengthen Christian leadership among Methodist youth.
