Department of Evangelism

HomeDepartment of Evangelism

The Department of Evangelism exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and establish vibrant Christian communities throughout Sri Lanka. Guided by the mission of the Methodist Church of Sri Lanka, the department is committed to reaching unreached communities, nurturing new believers, and strengthening the witness of the Church through evangelistic ministry.

Our Mission

The Department of Evangelism seeks to:

  • Pioneer new evangelism and mission areas.
  • Support the evangelistic ministries of Methodist Circuits across the country.
  • Train and equip lay leaders for effective evangelism.
  • Develop and mentor evangelists for faithful Christian ministry.

Our Ministry

The department currently oversees several developing and newly established mission areas across Sri Lanka. Through dedicated evangelists, these mission fields provide regular worship services, pastoral care, prayer ministries, house visitations, and Bible-based discipleship for new believers.

Our ministry extends beyond church gatherings by building meaningful relationships within local communities. Through educational support, medical outreach programs, children’s ministries, English and vocational classes, and other community initiatives, we seek to demonstrate Christ’s love while creating opportunities to share the Gospel.

Looking Ahead

As the Department continues to expand into new communities, we remain committed to planting churches, making disciples, and strengthening Christian witness across Sri Lanka. Through God’s grace and the faithful support of the Methodist Church, we continue to share the hope of Christ with communities where the Gospel is still being introduced.

Mission Areas

The Department currently serves both developing and newly established mission fields,
including:

  • Beruwela
