The Prayer Convention organized by the Methodist Church Sri Lanka was held from 12th or April, 2010 to 15th of April 2010 at St. John's College, Jaffna. More than 1300 participants from all over the country gathered together for this prayer convention.
The main purposes of this convention are :
- To revitalize the prayer life of the individual person, the family and the church
- Through that, to enhance the life and witness of the church
- To be a visible sign of the unity we cherish as a church across ethnic, language or cultural backgrounds.
The preachers who were present at this convention are :
- Pas. J. V. Peter (India)
- Sis. Nirmala (India)
- Pas. Alex (India)
- Pas. Vincent (India)
- Rev. Kingsley Wijekoon (Baptist Church)
- Pas. Wesley Maxwell (India)
The convention consisted of bible studies, worship and singing sessions, workshops, discussions, silent prayer sessions, and many other progammes. A procession of witnesses was also organized which turned out to be a very enjoyable event for everyone.
In addition to strengthening and revitalizing the prayer lives of many, this convention provided the participants with the opportunity to work together and build relationships with other Methodists from around the country. At the end of the convention, many participants accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and committed their lives to full-time ministry service or to prayer ministry service.
