My sincere thanks go from the bottom of my heart, to our Past Presidents – Rev. Noel Fernando and Rev. Duleep Fernando. They have been a tower of strength to me, always stepping in when needed, rendering their support whenever required, enabling me to fulfill the responsibilities that the Methodist Church has graciously bestowed upon me. My heartfelt thanks with adoration goes out to Rev. Somasiri K Perera, who forever prays for me and encourages me at every turn of events, even now, though with few words. The corporate sense of responsibility from these past Presidents of Conference, still makes me a student to learn many things on Leadership and Servant hood.
I wish to sincerely express my thanks for all those wonderful people who worked at the Methodist Headquarters. They were of immense support to me and always rallied round when there was additional work to do. It has been a source of joy and a privilege, to work with this vibrant and dedicated group. I thank this wonderful dedicated family team consisting of all denominations and all faiths from the bottom of my heart.
We wish to place on record the loyal and dedicated service of Mr Wijeyadasa who has rendered yeomen service to the Church. He retires at the end of this month after a long and faithful service of 45 years.
I also wish to take this opportunity to thank all those who toiled hard in the field and in the congregations, the Ministers, the Evangelists and all the Church workers, most of whom have been wonderful colleagues ,if not trust worthy friends. I know that I might have pushed you’ll too far, and been very demanding most of the time. Accept my gratitude for putting up with many of my unjust demands etc.,
I also thank all the Lay Leaders who have rallied around and given their utmost cooperation whenever sought for. I am amazed at the grace and blessings of God I have personally experienced through your faith, commitment and the love for our Lord.
My thanks also go to the hundreds of people who have upheld me in their daily prayers. It is the prayers of the faithful that has enabled the Church to be what it is today, specially the new Confirmants and the Youth and many hundreds who not only prayed but written letters of comfort and encouragement, spoken words of hope and upheld me in many ways. It was a privilege to witness and experience this wealth of support to whom I am grateful and thank God for.
I wish to place on record my personal thanks and gratitude to my wife Pathmini, my Son Meshak and the little daughter Hadsha. They have been always a joy and often serving as tension breakers when I return home exhausted at the end of the day. Finally, I thank God, for His amazing and marvelous ways of dealing with a reckless wretch like me. He has been my Master and my friend and has been a merciful and loving God an experience that has enriched every day of my life |
